Step right up and join the society for computer professionals. This ad appeared on the first page of the first issue of the first computer magazine. In 1975 Byte Magazine published information from ACM, an organization that served as the educational and scientific society for computing professionals. The ad claims that the organization had more than 30,000 members, and was founded in 1947. ACM stands for “Association for Computing Machinery”

In 1975 most of us never heard about computers, and many of us weren’t born. Since 1992 ACM owns and operates domain name ACM.ORG.
